Pixel Quest is a tarot deck drawn in 16-bit pixel art, in the style of early 1990s Japanese console RPGs. You will find it among the six premium decks of Zorynthia, an AI tarot and astrology web app, as a complete set of 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. Every scene is built from visible square pixels with dithered shading and saturated colour, inside an ornate gold frame studded with blue gems. The cards are populated by heroes and villains in the style of classic anime, games and cartoons.
The four suits are drawn as RPG items: Cups are potions, Wands are magic staves, Swords are steel blades and Pentacles are gold coins, and the Aces look like rare loot. The meanings stay traditional, and the AI reads them exactly as it would with any other deck. Pixel Quest needs the Arcana Pass subscription (€11.99 a month); until you subscribe, the deck stays in preview mode. It is built for gamers, retro fans and pixel art lovers.
What does Pixel Quest look like?
Every edge is built from visible square pixels with no smoothing, and shadows use fine dither patterns, as on 16-bit consoles. The palette is bright and saturated: clear blue skies, deep greens, orange sunsets and starry night forests. A gold knotwork frame with blue gems surrounds each picture, with the numeral or suit emblem in a round medallion at the top and the title in chunky pixel capitals on a navy plaque below.
People and creatures are drawn as detailed RPG character sprites. Cups are glass flasks of glowing blue potion, Wands are wooden staves topped with a green crystal, Swords have gold cross-guards, and Pentacles are large gold star coins. The back is a violet crystal inside a gold rune circle on a starry navy field.
Who is Pixel Quest for?
Pixel Quest is for gamers who remember 1990s console RPGs, for anime fans and for anyone who likes retro pixel art. The scenes are bright and adventurous: the Fool stands on a cliff above a harbour town with a bundle on a stick, and the Knight of Wands rides on top of a speeding steam locomotive. Even hard cards such as The Tower or the Ten of Swords look like a game level rather than a horror scene.
That lighter tone suits questions about motivation, learning, new challenges or choosing a path, though the deck works in every category. The playful look does not make the reading shallow: the AI interprets each card's traditional meaning. A Zorynthia reading is entertainment and a tool for reflection, not an oracle.
How do you get a Pixel Quest reading on Zorynthia?
Arcana Pass gives you access to Pixel Quest. A reading goes like this: type your question, pick a category (love, career, finance, spirituality or general), select Pixel Quest and choose whether to draw from the 22 Major Arcana or the full 78 cards. You can change that pool for every reading.
Zorynthia then draws three random cards for past, present and future. The AI covers each one in relation to your question and adds a summary, and the text streams onto the screen as it is generated. You can add one or two extra cards at 1 token each, and the reading is saved in your history. The artwork has no effect on the interpretation: a potion on the card is still a Cup with its classic meaning.

Pixel Quest: frequently asked questions
How much does Pixel Quest cost?
Pixel Quest comes with Arcana Pass, Zorynthia's €11.99 monthly subscription, which also includes 150 tokens a month, all six premium decks and free weekly and monthly horoscopes. Token packs (10 tokens for €1.69, 50 for €5.99, 100 for €10.49) pay for readings but do not give access to Pixel Quest.
How many cards does Pixel Quest have?
Pixel Quest has the full 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana from The Fool to The World, and 56 Minor Arcana in four suits drawn as RPG items. Cups are potions, Wands are crystal-topped staves, Swords are steel blades and Pentacles are gold coins. With Arcana Pass you pick a 22-card or 78-card pool for each reading.
Do Pixel Quest cards mean the same as the Rider–Waite–Smith deck?
Yes. Pixel Quest only changes the artwork; the card names, numbering and meanings follow the classic Rider–Waite–Smith tradition. A Cup drawn as a potion is still a Cup, and the AI works from that traditional meaning without analysing the pixel art, so nothing is lost compared with a classic deck.
Is Pixel Quest good for gamers?
Pixel Quest was made with gamers in mind: 16-bit pixel art in the manner of classic JRPGs, tarot suits turned into inventory items, and characters in the style of anime and games. You do not need to know any particular game to use it. A Pixel Quest reading works like any other, with the AI explaining each card in the context of your question.
