Neon Drift is a tarot deck in the style of 1990s science fiction anime, drawn like hand-painted cel animation. On Zorynthia, a browser app for AI-interpreted tarot and astrology readings, it is one of the six premium decks and includes all 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. Pilots, hackers and androids share the cards with robot horses and dogs, in night cities full of satellite dishes. Everything glows mint green against deep black, and every card is framed in white armour plating.

The look is new; the meanings are not. The Fool, striding along a rooftop ledge with a pipe over his shoulder, still stands for a fresh start and a risk taken, and the Knight of Wands, here on a motorbike, is still about drive and haste. Neon Drift comes with the Arcana Pass subscription at €11.99 a month; without it the deck can only be previewed. It suits anyone raised on anime and manga science fiction, or anyone who simply likes the look.

What does Neon Drift look like?

Bold, clean ink outlines and flat cel shading with one hard-edged shadow make each card look like a still from a 1990s anime film. The palette is narrow: black, glowing mint and teal, olive drab, rust brown and off-white, with film grain and soft bloom. The frame imitates mecha armour plating, with a mint inner line, red-and-white stripes, corner bolts and a title plate in heavy condensed capitals.

People wear bomber jackets and flight suits, and the animals are machines: Death rides a white robot horse. Cups are chrome goblets of green liquid, Wands are leafy black antenna rods with glowing tips, Swords are faintly glowing katanas, and Pentacles are brass star coins. The back is an eight-pointed star in a targeting reticle between ringed planets.

Who is Neon Drift for?

Neon Drift is aimed at fans of anime, manga and science fiction, particularly those who remember how 1990s series and films looked: painted backgrounds, tape grain, dense mechanical detail. The characters are young and drawn like a show's cast, which makes the court cards easy to read as real people in your own life.

Night cities, watchtowers and starfields give the deck a slightly melancholy, late-night mood that fits questions about loneliness, friendship, moving away or changing direction. If you prefer anime in a sweeter, pastel form, the free Sugar Moon deck has chibi characters and a magical girl look. Either way, a reading is entertainment and a chance to reflect, not a prediction.

How do you start a Neon Drift reading on Zorynthia?

You need an active Arcana Pass. Type your question, choose a category (love, career, finance, spirituality or general) and pick Neon Drift as the deck. Each reading also asks for a card pool: the 22 Major Arcana on their own, or the full 78-card deck with the Minor Arcana.

Once you confirm, three cards are drawn for past, present and future. The AI interprets them one by one in the context of your question, then writes a summary, and the answer appears on screen while it is being generated. You can add at most two extra cards, 1 token each, and the whole reading is kept in your history. The interpretation draws on each card's traditional meaning; the AI does not see the illustration.

Neon Drift: frequently asked questions

How much does Neon Drift cost?

Neon Drift is included in the Arcana Pass subscription at €11.99 a month, together with 150 tokens every month, all six premium decks and free weekly and monthly horoscopes. Token packs alone do not give access to Neon Drift. Every new account does get 5 free tokens, with no payment card needed, to use with the six free decks.

How many cards does Neon Drift have?

Neon Drift contains all 78 tarot cards. Its 22 Major Arcana are numbered 0 to 21, and its 56 Minor Arcana are split into Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles, drawn here as antenna rods, chrome goblets, katanas and brass coins. Arcana Pass subscribers can limit any reading to the Major Arcana or use the whole deck.

Do Neon Drift cards mean the same as in the Rider–Waite–Smith deck?

Yes. Neon Drift keeps the card names, numbering and meanings of the classic Rider–Waite–Smith deck, and its scenes clearly echo the familiar compositions, recast as science fiction anime. Interpretation is based on what each card traditionally means, not on its picture, so a Neon Drift spread reads the way a Rider–Waite–Smith spread would.

Is Neon Drift a good tarot deck for anime fans?

Neon Drift was designed for fans of 1990s science fiction anime: cel shading, heavy ink lines, mecha, pilots and androids in a mint-green glow. For a sweeter, pastel anime look, the free Sugar Moon deck is the alternative, while Pixel Quest, another premium deck, puts characters in an anime and game style into 16-bit pixel art.
