Field Manual is a premium tarot deck on Zorynthia illustrated like a hand-engraved plate from a Second World War military field manual. Mustard skies, olive drab, khaki and charcoal ink on worn paper make up scenes of wartime life: soldiers, field nurses, chaplains and villagers. All 78 cards are included, 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana, under their traditional names.

Access comes with an Arcana Pass subscription at €11.99 a month; without one, the deck can only be previewed. Subscribers decide per reading between a Major Arcana draw and the full deck. The wartime setting is costume, not content: the AI behind Zorynthia works from each card's traditional meaning and your question, never from the illustration. The cards show no blood, and loss is conveyed through stillness. Readings are entertainment and reflection, not prophecy.

What does Field Manual look like?

Every card reads as an old print: fine cross-hatched ink lines, a mustard-ochre sky, olive uniforms and paper with faint grain and wear. The frame has a cream edge, an olive border with a double rule, stamped metal corner plates with a five-pointed star, a riveted plate for the Roman numeral, and a dark olive banner with the title in mustard-gold serif capitals.

The Minor Arcana come from a soldier's kit: Cups are dented tin mugs, Wands are rifles with an oak sprig under the sling, Swords are bayonets, and Pentacles are brass coins stamped with a star. The Fool is a grinning paratrooper in an aircraft doorway with a terrier in his jacket. The back shows a brass star medallion in a laurel wreath between oak sprays.

Who is Field Manual for?

Field Manual appeals to people who like documentary illustration, old engravings and twentieth-century history, and who want tarot that feels sober rather than ornamental. Its scenes of farewells, night watches and homecomings sit well with questions about endurance, duty, separation, loyalty or rebuilding after a hard stretch. The full 78 cards allow more detailed readings on work and everyday life.

It is not a deck for everyone. War imagery, including a fallen soldier on a few cards, can be hard to look at, especially for anyone whose family history was marked by war. If that is you, any of the other eleven decks gives the same meanings and the same kind of interpretation.

How do you get a Field Manual reading on Zorynthia?

Field Manual sits behind Arcana Pass, the €11.99 monthly subscription that also brings 150 tokens a month, the five other premium decks, and free weekly and monthly horoscopes. Buying tokens alone is not enough: packs from 10 tokens (€1.69) to 100 tokens (€10.49) pay for readings but not for premium decks.

Once subscribed, enter your question, a category and Field Manual. Before the draw, choose between the 22 Major Arcana and the complete 78-card deck. The three cards are read as past, present and future; the AI explains each in light of your question, closes with a live summary, and files the reading in your history. Two more cards can be added at 1 token apiece. None of the meanings depend on the wartime art.

Field Manual: frequently asked questions

Is Field Manual free?

No. Field Manual needs an Arcana Pass subscription at €11.99 per month. Along with this deck and the five other premium decks, the subscription brings 150 tokens monthly and free weekly and monthly horoscopes. Token packs add readings but never open Field Manual; without Arcana Pass you can only preview it.

How many cards does Field Manual have?

Field Manual is a full 78-card tarot deck. The 22 Major Arcana run from The Fool (0) to The World (XXI), and the 56 Minor Arcana are split into Cups, Wands, Swords and Pentacles, fourteen cards per suit from Ace to King. With Arcana Pass you choose before each reading whether to use only the Major Arcana or the whole deck.

Does Field Manual change the Rider–Waite–Smith meanings?

No. Field Manual moves the classic scenes into the Second World War but keeps the Rider–Waite–Smith structure and meanings. Zorynthia's AI interprets the card that was drawn, not its picture. Strength in Field Manual shows an army nurse calming a war dog instead of a woman with a lion, and the card still stands for gentle strength and self-control.

Does Field Manual show blood or graphic violence?

No. Field Manual is realistic about war but leaves out blood and gore. Loss is shown through stillness: The Hanged Man is a motionless paratrooper caught upside down in an oak, and Death is a rider in a gas mask on a pale horse. Many cards show ordinary life instead, such as a harvest, a farewell on a country road, a wedding after liberation and a homecoming.

Field Manual comes with Arcana Pass
